Guests have their choice of two elegant and well-appointed suites: the Grice Suite,
with golden oak furnishings, including a queen Mission style bed; and the Fearing Suite,
with Queen Anne cherry furnishings, including a king cherry four poster bed. Both suites
have quality beds with firm mattresses, color-coordinated linens and decorative accents,
and fresh flowers. Each suite has its own spacious ceramic-tiled bathroom, containing a
Jacuzzi tub and shower. Each suite also has its own adjoining sitting room, with a
loveseat, chair, TV and DVD. Amenities in each room include a ceiling fan, radio/CD
player, bedside reading lamps, luxury linens and thick, fluffy towels, premium toiletries,
hairdryer, and fluffy bathrobes.
The Grice Suite's sitting room contains a comfortable loveseat, a leather and
carved oak rocking chair, an antique trunk coffee table, convenient reading lamps, and an
oak writing desk and oak and hand-caned chair. Celadon green and red are the
predominant colors in this sitting room. An oriental rug covers the painted wide-planked
pine floors.
Adjoining this sitting room is the bedroom, which also has a celadon green color
scheme. The room's furnishings include a queen Mission oak bed, an antique oak dresser
and mirror, a blanket stand, night tables, and an oak side chair. Oak-framed artwork
adorn the walls. An oriental rug covers the painted wide-planked pine floor.
This suite's bathroom is a remodel of the original bathroom, from the early 20th
century. Featuring a fawn color scheme, the bathroom offers a Jacuzzi tub with shower,
ceramic tile floors, pedestal sink, and two windows, overlooking the yard.
The Fearing Suite's sitting room is decorated in a deep rose and dark blue color
scheme. The original closet's door has been removed, to provide a showcase for artwork
and reading material. This suite offers a deep blue loveseat which opens into a twin bed,
a cherry coffee table, a deep rose wing chair, and a cherry side table. An oriental rug
covers the painted wide-plank pine floor.
Next to this sitting room is the Fearing bedroom, which is painted a deep periwinkle
blue. Furnished with a king cherry Queen Anne bed, there is also a large cherry dresser
with mirror, night table, and white wing chair. Comfortable pillows accent both the bed
and chair. An oriental rug covers the painted wide-plank pine floor. The Fearing Suite's
bathroom is a newly-constructed large bathroom, offering a Jacuzzi tub with shower,
ceramic tile floor, and pedestal sink. The room's color scheme is blue and white.
The owners have strived to maintain the charm and colonial character of the house.
The second story's wide-planked wooden floors have been painted, in the colonial fashion,
and are covered by oriental carpets. Wooden blinds and custom window treatments adorn
the windows, many of which still contain old wavy glass panes. The owners' art collection
includes many original paintings and pieces of sculpture throughout the house.
The library, with books, CD player and large TV with DVD, and the white-wicker
furnished sunroom, looking out on a koi fishpond and brick patio garden with wrought
iron seating, are also for guests' enjoyment. Music-loving guests may want to play the
piano in the living room.
There are two broad porches, one on the main level and one on the second level,
each with wooden rockers; the second floor porch also has a wooden swing. There is a
small table and chairs on another balcony at the end of the hall on the second floor,
affording an arboreal view toward the waterfront. |
